COURSE OVERVIEW -  This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. 

It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit. Relevant work health and safety state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm jurisdictional requirements.

TOPICS COVERED

  • identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards
  • understanding basic risk control measures
  • identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies
  • correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
  • demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.

DURATION - 6 hours, 8:00am - 2:00pm

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW & DO -

  • You will be required to conduct mathematical calculations throughout this course
  • You must supply 100 points of identification
  • Wear comfortable and practical clothing and enclosed footwear

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT - Two (2) assessments will be conducted at the completion of training – Knowledge and Practical Assessments.

REASSESSMENT - Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training. Fees may apply for further training and reassessment.

LICENCES & CERTIFICATION - This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and applicants’ deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for CPCCWHS1001 and a competancy card will be provided by Worksafe VIC.
